- Can I suggest an area to audit?
Yes. You may contact the City Auditor’s office by e-mail at Julie.Nieminski@GreshamOregon.gov, mail or phone at 503-618-2210. Your suggestion will be evaluated by the City Auditor with consideration of the associated risk and available resources to conduct such an audit. During the audit planning cycle the City Auditor encourages suggestions for auditable areas to be submitted for evaluation and consideration for the next fiscal year. New requests for audits are considered under the guidance of the Audit Committee.

Audit topics are selected annually by the City Auditor, with guidance from the Audit Committee.

- How is the City Auditor appointed?
The City Auditor is appointed by and reports to the Gresham City Council. The Council annually reviews the performance of the City Auditor.

- What is a performance audit?
Performance audits are conducted with the goal of improving City operations, facilitating any corrective actions and improving public accountability. Performance audits are intended to answer one or both of the following questions:
- Is management performing its duties economically, efficiently and in compliance with established laws and regulations?
- Are programs achieving their intended purpose?

- What types of audits does the City Auditor perform?
The City Auditor mainly conducts performance audits of all City of Gresham departments, offices, activities, functions, programs and subcontractors of the City. Audit follow-ups are also completed to ensure management has implemented audit recommendations and to ensure they are working effectively.
