Gresham Police investigating shooting and exchange of gunfire between vehicles

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, at approximately 5:45 pm, multiple callers reported gunfire near the playground area of Pat Pfeifer Park. Witnesses said people were shooting at each other before getting into vehicles and fleeing the area. An exchange of gunfire between moving vehicles followed as the vehicles went northbound on 172 Ave. from Burnside Road. Gresham officers arrived at Pat Pfeifer Park and recovered 36 spent shell casings and other evidence.
Portland police received a report of a walk-in gunshot victim at Adventist Health in the 12200 block of NE Halsey St. The man was transported by ambulance to an area trauma hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Another caller reported a man with a gunshot wound in the 400 block of NE 148th Ave. Responding officers found bullet holes in a nearby vehicle. The man was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
