Gresham Police investigating suspicious death

A Troutdale man has been arrested for murder in the shooting death of Ahanu Johnson. Gresham Police found Johnson shot to death in the 2600 block of NE 201st Avenue on May 5. Investigators identified 21-year-old Qunicy Teklehiamanot as the suspect in Johnson’s death and obtained a warrant for his arrest. East Metro SWAT arrested Teklehiamanot at a residence in Troutdale early this morning. Teklehiamanot has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree.

What began as a suspicious circumstance call is now a homicide investigation. Gresham Police were dispatched to a mobile home park in the 2600 block of NE 201st Avenue on Monday morning, May 5. Responding officers found 22-year-old Ahanu Johnson dead at the scene. The East County Major Crimes Team was activated to investigate Johnson’s death. Detectives have now confirmed Johnson’s death is a homicide.

Police in Gresham are investigating a suspicious death. Shortly before 8:00 am on May 5, 2025, officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious circumstance in the 2600 block of NE 201st Avenue. Officers found a person deceased at the scene. The East County Major Crimes Team has been activated and is investigating the death. No further information is available at this time.
