Cat saved from apartment fire

June 10, 2024

The City of Gresham’s first responders worked together this afternoon to save a cat from a residential fire. Multiple engines from the Gresham Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in the North Central neighborhood shortly before 1 pm.

Firefighters checked the apartment and found a cat had been overcome by smoke.  While other crews extinguished the fire, a rescue crew began treating the feline victim. A Gresham Police patrol car was used to transport the cat to an area animal hospital, while a paramedic rode along to continue providing treatment.

After additional work at the hospital, the black-and-white cat was revived. The cat is expected to recover. Efforts to reunite the cat with their owner are ongoing.
