Responsibilities

Legal services

The City Attorney’s Office provides legal advice and opinions to City Council, commissions, committees, task forces, the City Manager and City staff.

In addition to its advisory role, the office also represents and defends City Council, employees, commissions and committees in litigation for official actions not covered by insurance. It also handles land use matters, administrative agencies, and other legal issues.

The City Attorney’s Office also updates and publishes changes to the Gresham Revised Code.

Risk management

Risk Management staff manage liability and property claims. You can request a claim form by contacting us at 503-618-2507 or RiskManagement@GreshamOregon.gov.

Legal assistance for community members

The City Attorney's Office cannot provide legal advice to community members, or represent them in any matter, whether it is civil or criminal.
