Community Safety Specialists

With the support of the Fire and Police Levy, our community now benefits from four additional Community Safety Specialist positions, increasing the total to six. These trained professionals play a vital role in addressing non-emergency concerns, freeing police officers to focus on urgent, high-priority calls.

 

Greater access for community members

Available by phone and online seven-days-a-week at the main police station and five-days-a-week at the Rockwood Public Safety Building. Available on a walk-in basis during regular lobby hours Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Efficient handling of non-emergency reports

Managing 25–40% of day-shift police reports, including:

  • Fraud
  • Minor property crimes
  • Missing persons
  • Stolen vehicles

 

Connecting with and supporting the community 

  • Park outreach
  • Crash-scene traffic control
  • Supporting patrol during data-driven missions
  • Assisting the Neighborhood Engagement Team

This program improves the efficiency of police services by ensuring timely response to community concerns and emergencies.
