Vance Park Improvements
The City is completing safety improvements at Vance Park to ensure a safer, more welcoming space for all community members to enjoy recreation.
Fall 2026 improvements
The City is replacing the playground at Vance Park to provide a safe, accessible place for children and families to play. The playground will be closed and a fence will block the area while work is completed.
The new playground will include:
- A Landscape Structures PlayBooster Tree Tops play system.
- A Rhapsody Animato Metallophone.
- Two-bay swing set with an accessible swing.
Work schedule
- September – October 2026
- Work hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Parks staff will remove the existing playground and prepare the site for the new play equipment.
Precision Recreation will install the new play equipment.
Project funding
The playground replacement is funded by Park Operations General Fund dollars.
Background
The existing playground equipment has reached the end of its useful life. Replacement parts are no longer available for many of the older structures. New playground equipment will help ensure safe and accessible play opportunities for the community.
2025 Safety improvements
In 2025, the City completed the following safety improvements:
- Removed dead and unhealthy trees to improve visibility.
- Installed utility poles for lighting and security cameras.
- Restored and opened the baseball field.
Funding support was generously provided by East Multnomah Outreach Prevention Intervention (EMOPI) and the Gresham Parks Department.
Project sponsors
This project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Gresham Parks Department, Gresham Police Department, Gresham Homeless Services, Portland General Electric (PGE), and Multnomah County.
